IBTE School of technology – ON AN ENLIGHTENING EXPERIENCE VISIT TO biL On Tuesday, March 5th – Twenty-four students and lecturers from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education School of ICT, SSR Campus, embarked on a journey of discovery with a visit to Brunei Innovation Lab, Anggerek Desa. Led by Christine Mae, an intern from Politeknik Brunei, the group received a presentation and tour around the lab, showcasing the firm’s objectives, goals, offerings, and activities. Amalina guided the tour for the room on the 1st floor, while Safwan led the demonstration skit, highlighting the transformative potential of immersive learning. Additionally, Hakeem took the group on a tour of the digital playroom, where students experienced hands-on activities like additive manufacturing, a driving simulator, and virtual reality sets.The visit aimed to expose participants to the forefront of scientific research and technological advancements, fostering a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange and inspiring a culture of exploration, innovation, and scientific excellence within IBTE SICT. 📷: SA

Exploring Tomorrow’s Innovations: IBTE SSRC EMBARK ON EYE-OPENING VISIT TO BRUNEI INNOVATION LAB THURSDAY, 7 DECEMBER — In a remarkable academic initiative, students and lecturers from the Institute of Brunei Technological Education’s Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus (IBTE SSRC) embarked on a journey of exploration into the cutting-edge world of modern technology. The campus organized an insightful visit to the Brunei Innovation Lab, located in the bustling heart of Anggerek Desa. Upon arrival, the students were welcomed, grouped into two and led by Ishaq Ibrahim, an intern from Politeknik Brunei, along with Naem Syukry, an intern from International Graduate Studies College (KOLEJ IGS), Kiulap, delivered presentations and tours around the lab to the groups, along with the elaboration of the firm’s objectives and goals, offerings, activities and more. The tour showcased the institution’s commitment to providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom, offering them a glimpse into the world of real-world research and innovation. Students had the privilege of interacting with additive manufacturing, driving simulator and virtual reality (VR) sets displayed in Digital Playroom of the lab, along with gaining insights. The Brunei Innovation Lab showcased a plethora of groundbreaking projects that covers up BIL’s 10 Tech Domains. The students were captivated as they witnessed how these technologies are shaping the present and paving the way for an exciting future. One of the highlights of the visit was a hands-on session where students were given the chance to engage with the latest technological devices and gadgets. From virtual reality simulations to driving simulator, the students immersed themselves in an environment that epitomizes the forefront of technological progress. Innovation Ceremony Closing Ceremony

Innovation challenge closing ceremony Innovation Challenge is a 5-week programme designed to address the real world problems by working on challenge statements from the industries as a technological team and innovate solutions. The announcement of winners took place on October 22 at the Design and Technology building in Anggerek Desa. These winning teams are now poised to join other promising solutions from the 5-week challenge in BIL’s next developmental program, the Innovate Accelerator. (source: Biz Brunei, 2023) Under the accelerator program, participants will undergo further training and receive resources over the next five to six months to propel the development of their prototypes towards commercialization. (source: Biz Brunei, 2023) The goals for this programme are: • Central Platform for Innovation: To provide an opportunity and platform for participants to validate their innovation and technological ideas and turning into reality. • Inspire Entrepreneurship: To produce more technopreneurs in the entrepreneurial ecosystem • Development Support: To align with Brunei Innovation Lab (BIL)’s aim to support the development of technopreneurs. Drone startup SkyVision clinched first place and a B$10,000 prize with its AI-powered photo and video surveillance system at the inaugural Innovation Challenge hosted by Brunei Innovation Lab. everBetter secured second place and a B$6,000 award for its data dashboard designed for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), while Keplar claimed third place, earning B$4,000 for its mobile application focused on pet supplies and stray animal control.
